Crypto hot summer is only 3 years away, stay warm in the mean time 🥶…
Some of Cheres' most successful crypto traders have one thing in common. When the going gets rough, they stick to believing in their thesis, and that's ‘crypto will be a monumental part of modern day life, the economy, and we're just at the very beginning'. Seems like former Coinbase Board of Director, Tom Loverro shares similar thoughts. In a recent viral tweet he shares his predictions 🔮 around the space.
“In 2022, crypto will go even lower. 2023 will be mostly flat to down, until indifference sets in, signaling a long-awaited spring thaw (explained below). Crypto macro will improve in the 2nd half of 2023.” - @Tomloverro, Twitter
📝 What does this mean for my investing? Tom's thread ends his thoughts on conserving cash, investing in crypto this year, at what he believes will be its lowest point, and for 30-36 months until crypto has its biggest boom yet.

The Weeknd teams up with Binance 💎 for the first Crypto-powered Tour
The Canadian prince, Abel, Saturday+Sunday, The Weeknd, or whatever nickname you have for the handsome fella is partnering with Binance on the first ever crypto-powered world tour. If you're wondering what the heck that means, Binance will release an exclusive NFT collection for The Weeknd’s tour in the form of virtual tickets, along with co-branded tour merchandise. The Weeknd launched the XO Humanitarian Fund 🥘 earlier this year, and to mark the launch of the tour, Binance will donate $2 million to the fund. A specially designed NFT collection where 5% of proceeds will go to the fund.
📝 What does this mean for my investing? NFTs can be viewed as art collectibles, or virtual tokens providing access to events, promotions or brand perks. In this case, The Weeknd's NFT collection can be used as a virtual ticket, design replicated in the form of physical merchandise and a way to give back to those in need through the Humanitarian Fund. The fund helps feed millions of people on the brink of famine.

Stock learnings from 2008: Why they say this is the best time to invest
"Can't repeat the past? No.Why of sure you can. Of course you can"
The infamous words ushered in ‘Gatsby’ by Jay himself are a reminder. 🧐 In the case of 2008's economic status, seeing the past repeat itself is all but fiction. 📉 Instead of worrying, we can relish in knowing that the market economy is just a cycle and past learnings can serve our behaviors today. Here are 3 ‘recession-proof’ companies and stocks, according to Financial Analyst, Arun Sundaram.
Walmart ($WMT): The discount retailer 🛍 outperformed the last 2 recessions, and it's continued to improve its business model by tapping into ecommerce, technology expansions and more. Food ain't going away, and purchases for basic needs usually soar during market downturns.
Home Depot ($HD): During 2008, Lowe and Home Depot 🛠 outperformed the market given people focused on home improvements. We saw a lot of this in 2020 due to the pandemic. Interestingly, it was one of the few pockets of the retail sector that saw outperformance.
Accenture ($ACN): If you're at Accenture 👔, will ya share those options with us? Being one of the few public consulting companies, Accenture is an interesting one. With over 500,000 employees around the world, it helps major corporations with their operations, technology expansions, and they get paid the big bucks to help companies during market downturns. Hello! 👋

📝 What does this mean for my investing? A lot of people sell their stocks, are paralyzed in fear, and don't know what to do. Instead of taking rash actions, look at past market downturns. Ask yourself what worked, what didn't, what's different this time? This way you can have a better plan and strategy for yourself.

Community Events 🎉

NFT NYC got lively at WearLively's store in SoHo, NYC! We had a blast with the ladies, and man…(cheers to you Sakky, for coming all the way from London 💀).

The event featured Lively's Founder & CEO, Michelle Cordeiro, a Wealth Advisor and Partner, Marielle Schurig and one of my very own creators, Kat Garcia. Some of the key points being:
Investing in a bear market is like when your fave store is on sale 🧸: If you saw walked by your fave store and saw a 20% sale, you'd be curious. The same thing applies to markets today. The S&P 500 is down 21% year to date, with BTC at 55%. Ask yourself what companies and cryptos you believe in. Go from there.
You don't have to wait to pay off your student debt to invest: You can do it at the same time. If you wait until you've paid it off in full you're missing out on years of compounded interest.
You can learn and practice yourself with fractional shares: If you're like ‘why the heck should I stock pick', but still want to put investing into your own hands, you can practice by investing small quantities (as low as $1) into some of your fave companies.
Huge thanks to our sponsors at Lively, Ceremonia, Dagne Dover, and Wander Beauty. 💫
While this was our first event focused on women + investing, Cheres has always been and remains for everyone. I mean, if you're a Gen Z and Millennials, even better ❤️ (otherwise, you're prolly wondering why the heck I use so many emojis and I ain't changing for anyone…yet. Get me to Series A, we'll chat then, k bb?).
~ Anyways ~ more events on the cal coming soon. Make sure you've signed up to our Google Calendar for up to date events.
